The Foreigner (1978)

May 20, 2015 @ 7:00 pm9:00 pm EDT

$7
Experience the second film from No Wave Cinema luminary Amos Poe, critically acclaimed by the New York times as a “pioneering indie filmmaker”. Amid the grime and atmospheric paranoia of 70s NYC, secret agent Max Menace arrives in the city on an unspecified mission and finds himself in the midst of undefined mystery and intrigue. Imbued with a punk sensibility and embracing B-movie genres, the avant-garde, & the French New Wave to create fresh American art cinema, the film also stars many key figures of the downtown scene including Debbie Harry, Anya Phillips, Patti Astor, Eric Mitchell, and a memorable appearance by The Cramps.
There will be a post-screening Q+A with director Amos Poe.

This event is part of the monthly Kaleidotropes series, curated by Jake Mikler of Little Red Booking. Each event features strange and unearthly arthouse cinema delights. An emphasis is placed on the uncanny — that which is dazzling but simultaneously disturbing. His selections are equally obtuse and obscure, providing a memorable film going affair. Like a kaleidoscope, the films are the shifting, symmetrical forms; juggling tropes that unite each one. Little Red Booking’s intention is to provide an invigorating cinematic experience, to showcase the rarely screened, and provide a communal environment that cinema’s were built for—a presentation of sight and sound in the close confines of the dark.
