Curatorial Research Assistant, Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center

Pay: $15 per hour, average 8 hours per week

Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center is accepting applications for a short-term research assistant position. The Research Assistant is under the supervision of the Curator, and will be working on research towards an exhibition titled Punctures: Textiles in Digital and Material Time (opening in Buffalo, Fall 2019). A strong interest in contemporary art and media is required.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Assist Curator with research and content development for the exhibition Punctures: Textiles in Digital & Material Time.
  • Research regional collections on relevant materials and artists.
  • Assist curator with the coordination of a conference on Punctures, to take place on November 16+17, 2018 in Buffalo, NY. The presence of the research assistant is required at the event and days preceding.
  • Provide organizational support for curatorial projects, including calendar management and checklists.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.A. in Art History or related discipline.
  • A strong interest in the history of media art.
  • Demonstrated skill in organization and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated research skills.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
  • Ability to maintain highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.
