Squeaky Wheel is offering our new Equipment Access Grant to those looking to create specific projects that require the tools and time sometimes difficult or unavailable in daily life.  Recipients will receive up to $1000 worth of equipment usage and facilities time, and a free 1 year Squeaky Wheel membership.

Be sure to check out our equipment prices to make your estimates based on your project timeline.

Quick FAQ

Who can apply?

Anyone residing in Western New York is eligible to apply.

What is the deadline for application?

This opportunity is awarded on a rolling basis, meaning there is no deadline and can be applied for based on your project’s time table and/or scheduling deadlines.

How does Squeaky Wheel select award recipients?

We will select applicants based on need for the equipment, timeline of the proposed project and availability of equipment requested.  We understand need in many forms: the need for exploration, experimentation, expression of underrepresented ideas, as well as the need for equipment access due to financial limitations.  Project timelines that fall between November and April have a better chance of acceptance due to the availability of equipment inventory.

When will I be notified of the application results?

As of this time, we will notify applicants within a month of submission.  We may also contact you prior to a decision should we have questions regarding your application.

What if my project won’t use even half of the entire $1000 worth of equipment?

Not to worry, this opportunity is meant for smaller scale projects and investigations.  The $1000 limit is meant to cap projects that might be larger than we could realistically support through this opportunity.  We recommend applying for our Workspace Residency if your project idea would meet or exceed the limitations here.  For this opportunity, no project or idea is too small.

I still have questions, is there someone I can ask directly?

Yes, any questions can be directed to Mark by emailing mark@squeaky.org
