A big hello from our Education team at Squeaky Wheel!

As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, we’re excited to share some of the many new and exciting happenings over here in our neck of the woods. We’ve now released the schedule for the upcoming round of spring Media Arts Workshops, and we’re proud to announce our full lineup of summer Tech Arts for Youth courses. In other news, one of our Buffalo Youth Media Institute short films was selected and will be screened at this year’s National Film Festival for Talented Youth, we’ll be partnering with the Coalesce BioArt Lab on a one day workshop event, and a new member has joined our team.

Good times are ahead, and we thank you for your support! Stay tuned for further updates.

We are very proud to announce that one of our Buffalo Youth Media Institute short films “This Needs to Change” was selected and will be screened at this year’s National Film Festival for Talented Youth! Out of over 1200 films, this was one of the 200 selected to be screened at the festival.

Our kids make honest and thoughtful work and we are so happy that they are being recognized. Thank you to our partners at the Buffalo Center for Art & Technology and our collaborators on this project Tiny Circus.

Squeaky Wheel is excited to announce a workshop by Coalesce BioArt Lab artists in residence Mary Tsang and Byron Reach.

In the Open Source Estrogen workshop, participants work in teams to construct a DIY solid phase extraction system, then perform detection using yeast-based biosensors for estrogenic compounds. Water samples will be collected from the following locales: the Buffalo water front, Scajaquada Creek, the Erie Canal and the Niagara River.
