We are proud to once again host our friends at the Buffalo International Film Festival, now in it’s 10th year! We are hosting an entire day of screenings on Saturday, October 8 here at Squeaky Wheel.
11:00am – Youth Media Showcase
In partnership with BIFF, Squeaky is proud to present a wonderful sampling of video works from our youth programs from around the city produced through our media arts programs for youth, Tech Arts for Youth, Buffalo Youth Media Institute, Tech Arts for Girls, and Westside Studios.
1:00pm – Beep: A Documentary History of Game Sound (2016)
Join director Karen Collins on a global journey to document the history of game sound from the penny arcade to 8-bit innovators at Nintendo, as she explores how technology and creativity has created some of the most memorable music of our time.
2:45pm – Traceroute (2016)
Join artist and self-declared nerd Johannes Grenzfurthner in a hilarious, personal cross-country trip from Coast to Coast as he chases the ghosts of nerd-dom’s past, present and future history.
5:15pm – BIFF Shorts: Experimental
BIFF proudly presents a dynamic lineup of abstract expression, filmic essays and perspectives that don’t play by the rules of narrative filmmaking. Work by John Rice, Mark Jenkin, Manny Mahal, Betschart Brothers, Jack Cochran and Pamela Falkenberg.
7:15pm – Beneath the Olive Tree
secret journals found buried beneath an olive tree tell the incredible story of women exiled during the greek Civil War (1946-1949) in Stavroula Toska’s award-winning feature.
