We’re also busy preparing for a whole new slate of classes starting in January of Media Arts Workshops (MAWs) and Tech Arts for Girls (TAG)!  Peruse below for details and opportunities.

Jamie and Rich Teach West Side Teens

Rich and Jaime Herbeck are excited to be leading the Storytelling Through Filmmaking class at West Side Studios. Fresh from a year of teaching creative arts at a project-based learning school in Cambodia, the duo is eager to help transform the big ideas of West Side students into visually expressive short films. Rich is a screenwriter by trade and a Buffalo native with 11 years of experience working in Hollywood. His feature film, Emelie, was produced in Buffalo in 2014. Jaime has a background in photography, event planning, marketing and ESL teaching.

Youth Win at Film Festival

Manuel, Morerro and Muhammad, If I Had a Trillion Dollars (2015).

Recently three students from Squeaky Wheel and Buffalo Center for Art & Technology’s Buffalo Youth Media Institute were awarded “Best Social Commentary” at the Rod Serling Film Festival in Binghampton, NY.

Wilson Morerro, Jefferson Manuel, and Saeed Muhammad originally created their film, If I Had a Trillion Dollars, for the 2015 edition of the If I Had a Trillion Dollars Youth Film Festival, which focused on youth voices discussing the national budget.

You can watch their film here.
