BUFFALO, NY — Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center is the recipient of a $150,000 grant by Teiger Foundation. In recognition of Ekrem Serdar’s curatorial work, the award will support three years of exhibitions, the Workspace Residency program, and other public programming. Squeaky Wheel is among 50 curators and 33 institutions across the United States to receive a grant as part of the Foundation’s annual Call for Proposals.
The grant program advances innovative curatorial practice in contemporary art, supporting projects that further new research, broaden opportunities for diversity and inclusion, and embrace more sustainable practices. This year, the Foundation awarded $3.9 million to US curators at organizations of all sizes to conduct research, mount exhibitions, and host touring shows, and curators at organizations with budgets of $3.5 million and below to realize three years of programming. The complete list of grantees can be found at teigerfoundation.org.
“I’m thrilled by the support of Teiger Foundation to our programs. It’s especially meaningful to have multiple-years of support for us to continue showcasing the joyous, challenging, critical artists we are known for,” said curator Ekrem Serdar.
Serdar is organizing several solo and group exhibitions, public programs, and a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Squeaky’s Workspace Residency program in 2026, which has supported over fifty artists, filmmakers, curators, scholars, and other practitioners selected through an open call by independent panelists. Residents in Buffalo can see the work of one of our current residents, Kathryn Ramey, as she presents a multiple projector performance at Silo City on September 6.
